Canterbury Biltong began in 2002 — almost by accident. Founder David just wanted decent biltong, which back then was hard to come by in New Zealand. A friend had taught him an old South African family recipe and he started making it for friends. From early days at farmers markets and the Hokitika Wild Foods Festival (where a typo had the product down as "dried bulls' balls" on the programme), Canterbury Biltong has grown into one of the country's best-known biltong brands.
Today Canterbury Biltong products supply thousands of grocers, supermarkets, service stations and duty-free stores in more than 11 countries. They've been taken up Everest and down to the Antarctic, tramped the great walks and sailed the high seas — your go-to high-protein, great-tasting, guilt-free snack. The Canterbury Biltong family also includes BiteMeat (modern 50 g snack packs with 25 g+ of protein) and Bootleg Jerky (acquired in 2024).
Camping, campervans, boats, outdoor gear, adventure, lifestyle — see the full line-up confirmed for 2–4 October 2026.
